Lions add a running back
Akeel Lynch didn't wait long to make his final decision shortly after he decommitted from Boston College.
The one-time BC commit backed out of his pledge to the Eagles last week and made clear his intentions to visit Penn State this weekend.
For a while the Lions had faded from contention in the race for the 6-foot, 205-pound back from Athol Springs (N.Y.) St. Francis, but the hiring of Bill O'Brien and his staff gave Penn State new life with the three-star back.
"It was just a good academic fit and they're heading in the right direction as a program," Lynch said Sunday night. "That's what made me want to join them."
Though Lynch has never met the new head coach in person he likes what he has heard from the staff, both over the phone and while on campus.
"I definitely like them a lot," he said. "I like Coach O'Brien and the offense he's bringing in. I like their coaching philosophy. They were looking for a running back like me. They're going to have a lot of zone concepts and I like that."
Iowa and Oklahoma were the two other finalists for Lynch, but the Sooners added a running back before Lynch was able to visit Norman.
