Dawson to decide between Ole Miss, Georgia
Sheldon Dawson could announce a decision as early as Monday.
First, however, the three-star athlete from Memphis (Ridgeway), Tenn., has to make that decision.
"It's going to be a difficult decision," Dawson said. "It's going to be hard. I believe it's probably going to come down to basically, overall how I feel and how my family feels."
Dawson, a 5-foot-11, 169-pounder, said Sunday he'll sign with either Ole Miss or Georgia on Wednesday. Dawson spent the weekend at Ole Miss on an official visit.
"It was a real good visit," Dawson said. "It was everything I expected. The coaches and the players were real cool. They said I could be a playmaker for them, a lock-down corner, a return guy and get some snaps on offense as well."
Dawson, ranked by Rivals.com as the No. 27 athlete in the nation, said Georgia's sales pitch is "about the same." The atmospheres in Athens and in Oxford are similar as well, he said. The visits were "all about the same" as well, making for a very difficult choice in the next 72 hours.
Ole Miss does have two things Georgia can't offer, and Dawson acknowledged they could be issues. The Rebels offer proximity to home (a little more than an hour from Memphis to Oxford) and some familiar faces inside the Ole Miss program. Dawson spent a lot of time over the weekend with Ole Miss quarterback Barry Brunetti and tight end Jamal Mosley, a pair of Memphis products.
"That's a big factor," Dawson said. "I know those guys and those guys are real close to me."
