Holtz surprised over SU offer

Tight end is still a great need for the Syracuse Orange in the class of 2012 and they have sent out a decent number of offers to possible targets. One of them is JP Holtz out of Pittsburgh (Pa.) Shaler Area.

Holtz, 6-foot-4, 235 pounds is holding ten offers right now and his recent Syracuse offer caught him by surprise.

"Syracuse offered me about two weeks ago," Holts said. "I was surprised for sure. It was nice to get."

At times Syracuse has tendency to not show a prospect a lot of interest before they offer and that is exactly why Holtz was caught off guard when he got his offer.

"I never really talked to any of the Syracuse coaches before they offered," Holtz stated. "Since I have received my offer I still have not had a chance to speak with Syracuse."

Despite not being in contact with Syracuse yet the Orange are still in the prospects mind.

"I believe Syracuse is a nice school. I'm open right now so I'm giving everyone a chance. I am going to have to visit them."

Wherever Holtz ends up he will bring a solid set of skills to help that program improve their depth at tight end.

"I have good size and speed. I also have good hands. Overall I would say that I am an athletic tight end."

The tight end prospect is looking to take his time during this process, so he does not rush into any decisions.

"I really have not thought about when I will make a commitment to a school.
