Ohio DB talks SU interest

South Euclid (Ohio) Brush cornerback Kevin Houchins is closing in on double digit offers right now. One team that he has been talking with him for a long time could be close to getting him to that double figures region. That school is Syracuse.

Houchins, 5-foot-11, 175 pounds is in close contact with Syracuse and he made a visit to see them a couple months ago.

"Syracuse is looking at me. I was up there for a junior day a couple months ago."

During the other times after the visit the Ohio product has been in contact with Syracuse running backs coach Tyrone Wheatley.

"My relationship is cool with Coach Wheatley, he great guy to talk to, we mainly just talk about football and making decisions on which college would be best for me to go to."

The two have also talked about a Syracuse offer.

"We have talked about an offer. I think he wants to see me at camp first."

With his eight offers in hand and others on the way Houchins does not have his summer camp schedule filled yet.

"I have not set up anything yet for Syracuse. I am not sure of all the camps I will be attending yet."

Before he has the chance to visit the New York school he already knows a bit about them and what he does know he likes.

"I think Syracuse is a great program that has a lot of history and will improve over the next few years."

Most schools are looking for Houchins to play in the defensive backfield and Syracuse is not different.

"Syracuse likes me at cornerback. I am good when it comes to man- to-man coverage and I can also return kicks."

Besides the Orange the schools taking a lot of interests in the prospect are coming for all over.

I have offers from Toledo, Louisville, Akron, Central Michigan, Eastern Michigan, and Miami (OH). I also think West Virginia, Pittsburgh, Boston College, Northern Illinois, and North Carolina could offer next.

Out of all the schools Houchins listed right now one is sticking out.

"Louisville is probably my favorite right now. They are highly interested in me and they have a plan for me in there football program."

Even though Houchins has the Cardinals on top right now he did say that if Syracuse were to offer they would have a chance to get to the top of his list.
