Northwestern leads for Ohio DT

One of Ohio's top defensive linemen is favoring Northwestern but other schools will have opportunities to change his mind.

Greg Kuhar, a 6-foot-3, 265-pound defensive tackle from Concord Township (Ohio) St. Edward, will be visiting a few schools in the near future but if they're going to stand a chance they'll have to blow him away.

That's because Northwestern has already made a huge impression on Kuhar and the Wildcats are in an excellent position.

"I'm still giving a bunch of schools a chance but I really liked my visit to Northwestern and I think they're the top choice now," Kuhar said.

"I loved the coaching staff, first of all. Coach Fitzgerald is a lot like my (high school) coach. He's definitely energetic about football, which is basically like my coach. I like the defensive line coach, too, and I just like the program overall. On top of that my parents are real deep into academics and it's a great school."

What other schools are in the running?

"I haven't really planned it out with my parents yet but I plan on taking (trips) to Iowa, Boston College and Ohio State," he noted.

Iowa and Boston College have offered Kuhar but the Buckeyes haven't, at least yet. Those will just be unofficial visits.

"I've had contact with all three of those (schools)," he added. "I know Ohio State was watching my film together as a staff. They love me but they haven't offered yet."

Does the coaching shakeup in Columbus affect Kuhar?

"It affects me a little bit but if I go down there and I like the new coach when I visit then it wouldn't be that big of a deal."

Kuhar said he would like to make his decision before his senior season.

He was recently rated three-stars by Rivals.com.
