Three tied at the top for Garnett

Puyallup (Wash.) offensive lineman Joshua Garnett is in high demand, and could commit to practically any college program in the country. That's the perk of being ranked the No. 7 offensive tackle and No. 28 player overall in the country. In a radio interview with SportsTalk KJR radio host Dave "Softy" Mahler, Garnett said naming his choice of football program is less important than his future school.

Garnett has aspirations of being a doctor, and that will play as big a role - if not bigger - than football in his final decision. Although he's a dominating 6-5, 285-pound blocker, he wants to find a school that can help him reach medical school just as much as it can help him reach the NFL.

Garnett has narrowed his list to a final group of three schools, and plans to announce in late January. Michigan, Stanford, and Notre Dame are the programs left standing in the race for his commitment. Despite reports that one program leads, the four-star insists he's wide open between them.

Following that Michigan visit, Garnett told The Wolverine that relationships were going to play a big role in separating the schools at the top of his list. He wants to be comfortable with the fellow recruits in his class, as well as the players and coaches already in the program. All three finalists have connections that Garnett is comfortable with.

All three programs are set to face off in bowl games this season. Notre Dame will face Florida State in the Champs Sports bowl on Dec. 29, Stanford faces Oklahoma State in the Fiesta bowl on Jan. 2, and of course Michigan plays in the Sugar Bowl live on ESPN against Virginia Tech at 8:30 p.m. EST on Jan. 3. Now that the hectic visits of the regular season have come to an end, Garnett will use the bowl games to further evaluate the product on the field at each school.

All three schools are hoping for bowl wins to improve their records, and finish the season on a high note. Little did they realize, they may also be playing for the favor of a highly-touted offensive lineman.
