Gardner taking visits

Coffee County (Douglas, Ga.) High School's Will Gardner picked up a pair of SEC offers late last month along with his previous offer from Louisville. This past weekend, Gardner took the opportunity to camp at those two SEC programs.

"I went to Alabama over the weekend and then I came to Mississippi State," said the 6-foot-5 and 190-pound pro-style quarterback. "Then I am going to Florida on June 17th and then I will be at North Carolina State."

"Mississippi State, Alabama and Louisville have offered me. And I feel like North Carolina State will offer me soon and they said they just wanted to get me over there at their camp."

Due to a sore shoulder suffered at Alabama, Gardner was not able to participate at MSU's camp. But he did take the opportunity to get his first up-close look at the Bulldogs' campus and gridiron program.

"This was my first time at Mississippi State and I got to tour the campus for the first time," said Gardner. "It felt like home, it is a small town and a town like where I was raised. It is a beautiful place and the campus and facilities are really outstanding."

Gardner also took the chance to get to know the MSU coaches that have developed their share of successful quarterbacks.

"I like the quarterbacks coach (Les Koenning)," said Gardner. "He knows what he is talking about and Coach Dan Mullen is known for his development of quarterbacks."

Following his unofficial visit to MSU, Gardner said he didn't have a leader in his recruitment. But he did note that his collegiate decision could be right around the corner.

"I don't have any favorites," said Gardner. "But I would like to make my decision by the end of June. It just comes down to finding the place I feel the most comfortable with and finding that perfect fit. I just want to visit these schools that have offered me and find the best fit for me."
